Stand Up for Singapore!

"We're from Singapore."
"Singapore? It's part of China, right?"

To cry or to laugh at the ignorance, stupidity even, of these people? Cry out loud! Singapore is never part of China! Situated at the southern part of SEA, Singapore is miles and miles away from China.

Singapore was founded as a British trading colony in 1819. It joined the Malaysian Federation in 1963 but separated two years later and became independent. It subsequently became one of the world's most prosperous countries with strong international trading links (its port is one of the world's busiest) and with per capita GDP equal to that of the leading nations of Western Europe.

Sad to say, Singapore's global ranking has dropped from 8th to 22nd(2005). Nevertheless, this sparrow-like country has greater plans for the future, which presumably allow the country to achieve the current living standards of Switzerland (per capita GDP US$52,879). Known internationally to have owned the Best Port, Best Airport, Best Airline etc., this city deserves to be accurately remembered and recognised. Singapore is a country and its city bears the same name.

She will be 40 on 9 August. In advance, I wish da best for the country and Happy Birthday Singapore.
